Jackson Stephens: Elects free agency

Stephens (elbow) elected to become a free agent Monday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Stephens was outrighted off Atlanta's 40-man roster and has opted to test out free agency rather than accepting an assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett. The reliever ended the season on the 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation, but it's not clear where he currently stands on the health front.
