Mariners' Denard Span: Takes seat Thursday

Span is not in the lineup Thursday against the Rangers, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

The lefty-swinging Span will get what appears to be a rare day off against a right-handed starter (Ariel Jurado). Utility man Kris Negron will start in left field and hit ninth in his stead.
