Mariners' Jake Hager: Removed from 40-man roster

The Mariners designated Hager for assignment Wednesday.

The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for lefty starting pitcher Tyler Anderson, whom the Mariners acquired in a trade with the Pirates earlier Wednesday. Hager, who is on his third organization of the season, will stick around at Triple-A Tacoma if none of baseball's other 29 teams are willing to trade for him and scoop him up off waivers.
