Phillip Evans: Let go by Pirates

Evans was released by the Pirates on Tuesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Evans appeared at all four corner positions in 2021 but didn't look anything like a corner bat, hitting just .206/.312/.299 in 247 plate appearances. The Pirates apparently didn't think he had much value even as a bench piece, so he'll look for other opportunities on the open market, presumably on a minor-league deal.
