Evans agreed Tuesday with the Yankees on a minor-league contract, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

The 29-year-old utility man is coming off a 2021 campaign in which he hit .206 with five home runs and a stolen base across 247 plate appearances in 76 games with the Pirates. Though his ability to play multiple spots in the infield and outfield could make him a useful bench option, he'll likely have a tougher time winning a roster spot with a contending Yankees club than he did with the rebuilding Pirates last season. Expect Evans to report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following spring training if he doesn't break camp with the parent club.
