Lombard led of the third inning with an opposite-field blast off Mason Englert, his sixth homer this season, extending the Yankees' lead to 3-0. Overall, the rookie shortstop is slashing .236/.287/.396 with 21 runs scored, 19 RBI and two steals through his first 158 major-league plate appearances.

Williams has a trio of multi-hit efforts over his last four games. The infielder has hit fairly well in September, going 17-for-59 (.288) over 20 contests so far this month. The strong showing at the plate has him up to a .270 average and .735 OPS on the year, and he's added four home runs, two steals, 16 RBI, 29 runs scored, 20 doubles and a triple across 231 plate appearances.

Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Marlins.
Swanson plated all of Chicago's runs in the narrow loss, though he was hoping for more when he came up with a runner on in the bottom of the ninth inning but flew out. The shortstop has played in four games since returning from about a month on the injured list due to an oblique strain, and he's gone 4-for-15 with a home run and three RBI. Swanson may get a break as soon as the Cubs officially clinch a playoff spot, but he should play every day once the postseason rolls around, so long as he remains fully healthy.

Pena (wrist) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Pena was pulled from Tuesday's game after taking a pitch off his right wrist in the eighth inning, and he'll need at least one more day off to recover before returning to action. Nick Allen will fill in at shortstop and bat ninth.

Ortiz has been nursing an abdominal strain which kept him out of the lineup Tuesday, but he's back in there after one day of rest. David Hamilton will cover third base, and Cooper Pratt will retreat to the bench for the Brewers on Wednesday.

He's gone deep three times in as many games, and Tuesday was his third multi-HR game of the season.
