  • Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Moves up to High-A

    McGonigle was promoted to High-A West Michigan on Sunday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. McGonigle produced a .323/.404/.456 slash line with three home runs, 34 RBI, 39 runs and 19 stolen bases over 226 at-bats in 59 games with Single-A Lakeland, and he'll now take the next step in his professional career. Fellow 19-year-old Max Clark was also promoted Sunday, and the two athletes will look to impress with West Michigan for the remainder of the year.

  • Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Returns from IL

    Single-A Lakeland reinstated McGonigle (hamstring) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday. McGonigle missed about two weeks of action to begin the season while recovering from a left hamstring strain, but the injury hasn't inhibited him since he made his return less than a week ago. The infielder has gone 5-for-11 with two doubles, three walks, two runs, two RBI and three stolen bases in four games since returning to the lineup.

  • Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Opens season on IL

    Single-A Lakeland placed McGonigle (hamstring) on its 7-day injured list Friday. The 19-year-old shortstop won't be available for the start of the Florida State League season after he strained his left hamstring during spring training and is still working his way back from the injury. McGonigle is without a definitive target date for a return, but provided he doesn't need surgery to address the injury, he should be back in action at some point later in April or in May.

  • Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Battling hamstring strain

    McGonigle has a strained left hamstring, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports. McGonigle began progressing toward a return Saturday, but his injury will prevent him from participating in the Tigers' Spring Breakout game against Philadelphia. The 19-year-old infielder worked his way up to Single-A in his first season as a pro, slashing .350/.438/.475 across 48 plate appearances.
