The Falcons released Marlowe on Wednesday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Marlowe was operating as the team's third safety during training camp and preseason action, so this comes as a surprising move. However, Rothstein suggests that it's possible Atlanta could re-sign Marlowe if the Falcons place anyone on the short-term IR in the next few days.
