After winning his second PGA Tour event of the season (and fifth worldwide since last fall) last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Hideki Matsuyama's Masters odds leapt up to 10-1. Now only Jordan Spieth has better odds to win the 2017 Masters.

Here is a look at the 11 favorites, according to the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook:

  • Jordan Spieth: 8-1
  • Hideki Matsuyama: 10-1
  • Rory McIlroy: 10-1
  • Jason Day: 10-1
  • Dustin Johnson: 12-1
  • Justin Rose: 15-1
  • Bubba Watson: 20-1
  • Justin Thomas: 25-1
  • Adam Scott: 25-1
  • Henrik Stenson: 25-1
  • Rickie Fowler: 25-1

Tiger Woods, if you're wondering, is 50-1. Matsuyama was 30-1 last August, according to Westgate. This move is not without merit either. It's true that he's been riding an all-time heater, but Matsuyama also has a terrific history at the Masters.

He too low amateur honors in 2011, and he finished in the top 10 each of the last two years. Here are his Augusta finishes. I believe this is what we call "trending."

So it should not come as a surprise that Matsuyama is a favorite to win the first major of 2017. The question now is whether he can become the favorite.
