Equipment: OptiShot2 includes Riviera Country Club
OptiShot2 is a great alternative to sitting in your house or apartment waiting for the snow to melt and courses to be cleared.

A bit of timeliness here as I recently had a chance to experience the OptiShot2 home golf simulator. The makers of Optishot added Riviera Country Club to their simulator this week which is the site of this week's PGA Tour event, the Northern Trust Open.
"With the addition of more and more championship courses, like the Riviera Country Club, and OptiShot Live, our users can play and compete right along with the PGA tour throughout the year and beyond," said Russell Edens, CEO of OptiShot.
"We’re basically building the world’s biggest golf club."
I reviewed the first version of OptiShot a few years ago but this version is definitely an upgrade. To use OptiShot2, you simply plug the USB cord from a golf mat into your computer and swing at real golf balls into a net.
The cool part?
The mat reads your swings and allows you to "play" various courses on your computer.
With 16 infrared sensors the precision it uses to measure your shots and allow you to "play" these famous courses from the comfort of your garage (or, if your ceilings are high enough, your house) is pretty cool.
At $500 plus cost for certain courses, the technology isn't cheap, but it is fun. And if you live somewhere where cold weather is prevalent, it's certainly a sweet alternative to not playing at all.
OptiShot 2 retails for $499 and the Riviera add-on is $30
