Marlins pitcher Henderson Alvarez gave up five hits in five scoreless innings while striking out two Wednesday, but he was removed after throwing just 62 pitches due to right elbow stiffness, the team announced.
The Marlins said that Alvarez was removed for precautionary reasons, though he figures to undergo testing on the injured elbow. He owns a 2.97 ERA and 40:16 K:BB ratio in 66 2/3 innings.
