Red Sox starter John Lackey was solid once again Wednesday in Philadelphia. He just wasn't good enough to avoid taking the loss.
Lackey fell to 3-5 with a 2.96 ERA as he allowed three earned runs over six innings in a quality start. He gave up six hits and walked three with five strikeouts. He was done in by the long ball as the Phillies homered three times off him, once in the second and twice in the fourth.
The 34-year-old is 2-1 over his last three outings with three runs allowed over a span of 19 innings with 18 Ks. He's pitching well and his next start is scheduled for Tuesday against Texas.
