Yankees starting pithcer CC Sabathia was solid on Wednesday against the Athletics.
Sabathia tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowed seven hits, two runs and two walks. Sabathia, who allowed 17 runs in the four starts prior to this game, did a good job of limiting the A's to just two runs.
Sabathia's start was bumped to Wednesday because he had his knee drained in between starts, he told reporters after the game.
"It was just part of our plan of what we were trying to do to stay healthy," Sabathia said, per MLB.com. "I got it drained between the last start [in Anaheim] and came out today and felt great.
"We knew that I had to get it drained, and I had the off-days coming up, so why not get these young horses out there and kind of let the old man get a couple of days off?"
Sabathia picked up his fourth win of the season and is now 4-8 on the year.
