Golden State Warriors' flamethrower Stephen Curry knocked down four 3-pointers in nine attempts on Sunday in his team's 92-86 victory. He finished with 37 points on 22 shots to lead the Warriors to their 72nd victory of the season. They're now one win away from setting the all-time record, and just have to take down the battered Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday to do it. Curry also has another, much smaller goal for Wednesday.
Sunday's game gave him 392 made 3-pointers on the season, which is an absurd thing to type. That means eight made 3-pointers away from an even, round number of 400 makes from deep this season. He's mentioned recently that if he gets to 399 3-pointers on the season, he's going to start chucking for that final make. He almost had one more in this game when he knocked down another three-quarter court shot as the third period was expiring. He got this one off just short of the clock running out, which would've given him five on the night, 393 on the season and needing just seven more for 400. Alas, it was late.
So how likely is Curry to knock down eight 3-pointers against the Grizzlies on Wednesday? He's made eight 3-pointers in a game 15 different times this season. None of them have come against Memphis, but six of those games did happen at home. In his career, he's had 25 games in which he's knocked down eight treys in a game.
That's right; 15 of his career 25 games with at least eight 3-pointers have happened this season. I think I like his chances.
