ESPN.com reported late Tuesday that Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III did suffer a complete tear of the ACL of his right knee along with the previously reported LCL tear in the same knee. The injuries happened during the team's playoff game vs. the Seahawks on Sunday, with the leg giving out when he tried to plant it on the disheveled grass surface in the fourth quarter. Griffin will undergo a "total reconstruction" of the knee Wednesday which will include reconstruction of his previously-repaired ACL from a 2009 surgery. The expected recovery time for this procedure is 6-8 months, though that seems pretty optimistic given the typical recovery for a torn ACL is normally longer. A source believes Griffin will be ready for the start of the season.
