LOOK: Tom Brady channels his inner Ron Burgundy to assemble Patriots
Receivers... assemble!
Back in 1974, Ron Burgundy was a news anchor for Channel 4 in San Diego. He was the best, and he worked with his best friends: Brian Fantana, Champ Kind, and Brick Tamland.
Channel 4's station director then hired a woman named Veronica Corningstone to work with the team. Burgundy and Corningtstone subsequently began a relationship. One day, Ron was late for work and Veronica read the news in his place. She was then elevated to co-anchor status, greatly angering the misogynist Ron. Thus began a workplace dispute which eventually ended in Ron being fired by Channel 4 News for telling San Diego to go f*** itself (due to the fact that he will read literally a-ny-thin-guh that someone puts in the teleprompter). Veronica was elevated to the sole anchor spot in his place.
Ron then became a wandering drunkard that could often be seen strolling through the streets with a ratty beard and a hot carton of milk. Three months later, Veronica was endangered by a rival newsman and Channel 4 needed someone else to read the news. The station director called on Ron, who knew he needs his friends in order to do his job correctly. What did he do?
Why is this story being told here at the Eye on Football blog? We're glad you asked.
Tom Brady is an NFL quarterback. He's one of the best (if not the best), and he works with his receivers: Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan, and Keshawn Martin, as well as tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett.
Brady's 2015 season ended in disappointment, but now the Patriots need him to come back and get ready to attempt to win a Super Bowl in 2016. But Brady knows he can't do that without his receivers. So what did Brady do?
