  • Red Wings' Dominik Shine: Big role in AHL win

Shine scored three goals and added an assist in AHL Grand Rapids' 10-1 win over Texas on Tuesday. Shine broke out of a slump in a big way -- he had posted just two helpers over his last four games. The winger has been effective this year with nine goals and 15 points over 12 appearances. The 32-year-old probably won't get much of a chance with the Red Wings despite his solid play for the Griffins so far.

  • Red Wings' Dominik Shine: Leads Griffins to win

Shine scored twice on five shots and added an assist in AHL Grand Rapids' 4-2 win over Rockford on Saturday. Shine is up to five goals and three helpers through six contests in the AHL this year. He earned his NHL debut in 2024-25 on the strength of a 14-goal, 46-point effort over 61 regular-season games with the Griffins. The 32-year-old could get a call-up in a pinch, but the Red Wings have trended younger this year, so Shine's strong play so far may simply come as an AHL veteran helping to guide the organization's prospects through the pipeline.

  • Red Wings' Dominik Shine: Pair of points Friday

Shine scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in AHL Grand Rapids' 5-2 win over Manitoba on Friday. Shine saw some time with the Red Wings last year, earning one assist, 16 hits and 15 PIM in nine outings. He's picked up three points across three AHL games so far. It'll likely take multiple injuries in Detroit or a truly impressive run of scoring for the 32-year-old winger to get another call-up.

  • Red Wings' Dominik Shine: Waived by Wings

Shine was designated for waivers by Detroit on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Shine's demotion could be a positive sign for Emmitt Finnie, who has been featured in a top-six role with Dylan Larkin periodically. For his part, the 32-year-old Shine finally made his NHL debut last season, logging nine games with the Red Wings in which he garnered one assist, 16 hits and five shots while averaging 8:39 of ice time. Shine should be on the list of potential call-ups this year, but he's unlikely to feature prominently for the club at the NHL level.

  • Red Wings' Dominik Shine: Sent down by Detroit

Shine was assigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Friday. Shine was called up by Detroit in early March, and he made five appearances during his time with the NHL club. He was held without a point and recorded eight hits, a blocked shot and 15 PIM while averaging 8:34 of ice time. However, the 31-year-old appeared in just one of the team's last eight games and should have more consistent opportunities to contribute in the AHL.

  • Red Wings' Dominik Shine: Called up by Detroit

Shine was recalled from AHL Grand Rapids on Friday. Shine was sent to the minors in early February, but he'll rejoin the NHL club ahead of Friday's game against the Capitals and will provide additional depth after Carter Mazur (upper body) was placed on injured reserve. He's made four appearances for the Red Wings this year, logging an assist, eight hits and two blocked shots while averaging 8:44 of ice time.

Shine signed a two-year contract with Detroit on Monday, Shine's new deal goes through the 2025-26 season. He has 11 goals and 32 points in 40 games with AHL Grand Rapids this campaign. The 31-year-old Shine could make his NHL debut in Monday's game versus the Kings if Vladimir Tarasenko (illness) is unavailable.
