Engvall scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 3-2 Game 3 loss to the Hurricanes. Engvall got the Islanders on the board early in the second period, burying a net-front feed from Anders Lee to cut Carolina's lead to 2-1. It's Engvall's first goal and second point in the series. The 27-year-old winger had 10 goals and 28 points in 74 regular-season games.... See More ... See Less

Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Back in lineup
Engvall (rest) practiced Friday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Engvall was given the night off Wednesday versus Pittsburgh, as the Islanders had already clinched a playoff spot. He is expected to see third-line action alongside Kyle MacLean and Anders Lee in Game 1 on Saturday versus the Hurricanes.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Will be scratched Wednesday
Engvall (rest) will be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's tilt against Pittsburgh, per Andrew Gross of Newsday. Engvall will finish the 2023-24 regular season with 10 goals and 28 points in 74 appearances. He's likely to return to the lineup in a middle-six capacity for Game 1 of the playoffs.... See More ... Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Two helpers in win
Engvall notched a pair of assists in Monday's 4-1 victory over New Jersey. Engvall set up Jean-Gabriel Pageau's opening tally midway through the first period before adding a second assist on a Kyle MacLean goal in the third. It's just the second multi-point game of the year for Engvall (his first since Nov. 22), though he's been productive down the stretch with five points (two goals, three assists) in his last six contests. Overall, the 27-year-old winger has 10 goals and 28 points through 74 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Scores vs. Montreal
Engvall scored a goal on a team-high six shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Canadiens. Engvall got the Islanders on the board early in the second period, burying a wrister from between the circles to tie the game 1-1. The 27-year-old Engvall now has two goals and three points in his last four games after logging just two assists in his previous 11 contests. Overall, he's up to 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) through 72 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Scores on breakaway
Engvall scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Ducks. Engvall picked off the puck in the neutral zone and broke away down the left wing to score an unassisted tally in the third period. The winger has four points over his last six games, giving him one of his most productive stretches of the season. Overall, he's at eight goals, 21 points, 100 shots on net and a plus-4 rating through 57 appearances. Unless he can keep up his recent surge, it's unlikely he gets a third straight 30-point campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Registers power-play helper
Engvall managed a power-play assist in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Sharks. Engvall set up Anders Lee's goal in the third period. Since the All-Star break, Engvall has done alright as a secondary scorer with six points and 25 shots on net over 13 contests. The 27-year-old winger is up to 20 points, 96 shots on net and a plus-2 rating through 56 outings overall in a middle-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Produces assist Thursday
Engvall notched a power-play assist in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Lightning. Engvall set up a Ryan Pulock tally in the second period. This was Engvall's second point in as many games to begin February after he was limited to one goal over nine outings in January. The 27-year-old has resumed his second-line role after an upper-body injury cost him four contests last month. He's at 16 points, 75 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating through 45 appearances, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect much out of the Swede.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Sinks former team
Engvall scored a goal on three shots and added three hits in Monday's 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Engvall scored with 2:02 left in the third period to put the Islanders ahead for good. The 27-year-old had gone eight games without a point and sat out four contests with an upper-body injury in January, so getting his first game-winner of the season against his former team was a fantastic way to come out of the All-Star break. Overall, Engvall has six goals, 15 points, 74 shots on net, 13 hits and a minus-1 rating through 44 appearances, mainly in a middle-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Available Thursday
Engvall (upper body) is good to play Thursday against Montreal, coach Patrick Roy told Andrew Gross of Newsday on Wednesday. Engvall has five goals and 14 points in 41 contests this season. He missed the Islanders' last four games due to the injury. Engvall's return might push Hudson Fasching out of the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Out Tuesday
Engvall (upper body) won't play Tuesday against Vegas, according to Andrew Gross of Newsday. Engvall will miss his fourth straight game. He took part in Tuesday's morning skate, but it's unclear at this time if he will be ready to play Thursday versus Montreal. Engvall has chipped in five goals, 14 points and 67 shots on net in 41 outings this campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Not playing Friday
Engvall (upper body) will not be in the lineup Friday in Chicago, according to Stefan Rosner of The Hockey News. Engvall will miss his second consecutive contest. He has five goals and 14 points in 41 games, but he has been in a prolonged slump, scoring once with no assists in his last 17 outings. He was replaced by Oliver Wahlstrom against Winnipeg on Tuesday and Engvall will likely take Wahlstrom's place in the lineup upon his return. Consider Engvall day-to-day at this time.... See More ... Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Dealing with upper-body injury

He has five goals, 14 points and 67 shots on net over 41 games this season. Oliver Wahlstrom will replace Engvall in the lineup Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Scores against Jackets
Engvall scored a goal on two shots versus the Blue Jackets on Thursday. Engvall started the season with just one goal in his first 20 games but has now scored in three of his last four contests while putting up a combined 12 shots. After putting up 30 points last season, the 27-year-old winger looks poised to blow past that mark this campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Collects second goal of 2023-24
Engvall scored a goal in a 5-4 overtime win against Carolina on Thursday. Engvall's marker late in the second period gave the Islanders a 3-2 lead. It was his second goal and 11th point in 21 games this season. If Engvall stays healthy throughout the campaign, then he might be able to surpass his career high of 35 points, but not by much. He's been serving in a middle-six capacity while seeing some time on the second power-play unit.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Sets up goal in narrow loss
Engvall earned a primary assist in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Devils. The Islanders signed Engvall to a seven-year, $21 million deal this past summer, including a modified no-trade clause for the entire duration of the contract. It's probably not breaking the bank from a monetary standpoint, and the Isles clearly have big plans for Engvall in order to justify securing his services through the 2029-30 campaign. Last year, he registered 17 goals and 13 assists through 78 games between the Maple Leafs and Islanders.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Grabs two points in Game 5
Engvall tallied a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Hurricanes. Engvall opened the scoring in Game 5 with his first point of the postseason, grabbing a loose puck in front of the net before beating Antti Raanta to give the Islanders a first-period lead. Engvall would pick up a second point with an assist on Brock Nelson's tally early in the second period. The 26-year-old Engvall posted 17 goals and 30 points in 76 regular games, including nine points (five goals, four assists) in 18 contests with the Islanders following a deadline move from Toronto.... Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Sets new career high in goals
Engvall scored a goal in a 5-1 win over New Jersey on Monday. Engvall's marker was his 16th of the season, which surpasses his previous career high set during the 2021-22 campaign. However, with 27 points through 69 appearances this season, he's still well behind his personal best of 35 points. Engvall was held off the scoresheet in each of his previous three outings, but he recorded three goals and five points over four games from March 11-18.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Goals in back-to-back games
Engvall scored a goal on four shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Kings. Engvall needed some time to adjust to the Islanders, going without a point in his first three games following a trade from the Maple Leafs. He's bounced back with a goal in each of his last two outings, giving him 14 tallies and 23 points through 63 contests overall. The 26-year-old's spot in the lineup is still fluid, but he should continue to play regularly in a middle-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Islanders' Pierre Engvall: Set for Islanders debut
Engvall will make his debut with the Islanders on Saturday versus Detroit, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Engvall is slated to play on the top line with Bo Horvat and Anders Lee in the contest. He had 12 goals and 21 points in 58 games with the Maple Leafs prior to being acquired by New York.... See More ... See Less

Stan Fischler@StanFischler1D agoThe @NYIslanders victory goes down among the all-time gutsy, noble and wonderful in franchise history. Kudos to #Varly, #Barzy, #Bobby -- he delivered the shot for Mat -- and the rest of the gang. Let's hope they can keep it going in Raleigh.

Andrew Gross@AGrossNewsday2D agoDirect from Game 4 press notes: "The Hurricanes have a chance to sweep a best-of-seven series for the second time in franchise history, with the only previous sweep also coming against the Islanders in the 2019 Eastern Conference second round."

Stan Fischler@StanFischler2D agoThe @NYIslanders finished the season 8-0-1. Let's see that team in Game Four. There's still hope for a win and-- if that happens -- good can come again. But for now; it's win or bust.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler3D agoI can see the @NYIslanders winning game 4. IF -- A. Varly is at the top of his game; B. Barzy and Bo do what Nelly is doing; score! C. Tighter D and D. Play their hearts out for one of the most devoted fan bases in the NHL. It's not that hard is it? Then go to Raleigh and win.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler3D ago@#NYIslanders coach #PatrickRoy was not wrong in starting #Sorokin. It seemed to make sense at the time but #Ilya simply did not do what was needed. Good idea=bad result. #Varly will take over for Game 4 & it's up to the big guns to deliver. Isles gotta at the very best for V.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler6D agoDepartment of Not-Really Coincidence: Last night, Portland Winterhawks grad, Seth Jarvis helped the @Canes beat the @NYIslanders. During the day, Hawks goalie Jan Spunar was named WHL Goalie of the Week. The 19-year-old Czech is undrafted! NHL needs net minders; Jan could be 1.

Stan Fischler@StanFischler6D agoIn Hockey 101 there should be a class called "How To Win Despite 'The Dreaded 3-Goal Lead.' Hard to believe that it happened again but TD3GL did in the @NYIslanders again in the most painful (what else?) of ways in Raleigh last night. It's now Bounce Back Time at the new Corral.
