Mariners' Luiz Gohara: Thriving with Low-A Clinton
Gohara, 19, has a 1.62 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 20 strikeouts in 16.2 innings (three starts) with Low-A Clinton
It seems like the electric Brazilian southpaw has been lingering in the lowest levels of the Mariners system for a while now, but he is finally starting to live up to scouting reports, showing top-of-the-rotation stuff. He notched a 1.76 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in 15.1 innings (three starts) with short-season Everett prior to receiving a well-deserved promotion at the end of June. Despite the fact that he has been on the radar in dynasty leagues for a couple years, Gohara won't turn 20 until July 31, so he is age-appropriate for the Midwest League. If Gohara continues this success through the rest of the season, the offseason hype should be noticeable, so the time to grab him in deeper dynasty leagues is now.
