Matt Adams: Retiring from baseball

Adams announced his retirement from baseball Sunday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Adams will sign a one-day contract Wednesday with St. Louis, where he began his career and played seven of his 10 major-league seasons. The 36-year-old last played in the big leagues in 2021 and finishes with a career .769 OPS with 118 home runs.
