Payton's contract was selected Friday by the White Sox.
Payton signed a minor-league deal with Chicago this offseason and has spent the entirety of 2022 with Triple-A Charlotte, where he's slashed .289/.365/.522 with 77 RBI. The 30-year-old outfielder has just 44 major-league plate appearances over his career with a .450 OPS.
