  • Jake Bauers RF | MIL

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Sitting against southpaw

Bauers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Bauers went 3-for-10 with a home run, three RBI and two additional runs through the Brewers' first two contests of the season, but the left-handed hitter will hit the bench Sunday while the White Sox send southpaw Anthony Kay to the hill. Especially while Andrew Vaughn (hand) and Jackson Chourio (hand) are both on the shelf, Bauers should have a fairly clear runway to regular playing time against right-handed pitching early on during the season.

  • Griffin Conine RF | MIA

Marlins' Griffin Conine: Sitting versus lefty

Conine is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Conine went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's contest, but he'll hit the bench Sunday with southpaw Jose Quintana taking the mound for Colorado. Connor Norby will instead serve as the designated hitter, opening up third base for Javier Sanoja.

  • Owen Caissie OF | MIA

Marlins' Owen Caissie: Hitting bench against southpaw

Caissie is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

The 23-year-old started the first two games of the season and has been productive, going 4-for-8 with two doubles, a stolen base, two RBI and a run scored, but he'll take a seat Sunday with lefty Jose Quintana pitching for Colorado. It remains to be seen if Caissie operates in a strict platoon given that he started against a left-hander Opening Day, but it'll be Austin Slater that starts in right field for the series finale.

  • Phillies' Gabriel Rincones: Shelved at Triple-A

Triple-A Lehigh Valley placed Rincones (knee) on the 7-day injured list Friday.

Before being optioned to Triple-A on March 7, Rincones had been shut down for much of spring training due to a sore left knee and apparently still needs more time to heal up from the injury. Assuming the knee issue doesn't prove to be a long-term concern, Rincones should still have a chance at making his MLB debut at some point later on in 2026 if he can hit the ground running once he's cleared to play at Triple-A.

  • Brandon Marsh CF | PHI

Phillies' Brandon Marsh: Idle against southpaw

Marsh is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Marsh will get his first breather of 2026 after he went 3-for-8 with two doubles and two RBI through the Phillies' first two contests. Though he'll be on the bench versus southpaw MacKenzie Gore, the left-handed-hitting Marsh won't necessarily be used as a strict platoon player for Philadelphia. Justin Crawford will be included in the lineup Sunday, but he's also a left-handed batter who could be a candidate to occasionally cede center field to Marsh against southpaws.

  • Ian Happ LF | CHC

Cubs' Ian Happ: Goes deep Saturday

Happ went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 10-2 win over the Nationals.

Happ batted third and connected for his first home run of the season in the sixth inning. The veteran outfielder blasted 23 long balls during the regular season last year, and he's hit 20 or more in four of the last five seasons while playing at least 148 games each year. Happ should continue to serve as an offensive catalyst for the Cubs batting near the top of the order.

  • Dane Myers CF | CIN

Reds' Dane Myers: Plays hero Saturday

Myers went 1-for-1 with an RBI in Saturday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Red Sox.

Myers played the hero with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning. He entered the game in the ninth inning as a defensive substitution and stuck around after Emilio Pagan blew the save. Myers has come off the bench in two straight games to begin the year, having served as a pinch hitter for Will Benson in the Reds' Opening Day loss.

  • Corbin Carroll LF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Playing field regularly

Carroll went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Carroll, who was in right field for all three games in the series, was largely limited to DH duties in spring training after his return from February surgery to repair a broken hamate bone in his right hand. He had just 21 plate appearances (19 at-bats) during a shortened Cactus League, so there may be early struggles while Carroll gets his timing down. He's 2-for-11 with two singles and two strikeouts through three contests.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | COL

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Swipes first bag of 2026

Doyle went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Saturday against the Marlins.

Doyle didn't have a remarkable day at the plate, and he's now 0-for-7 in his first two games of the season. However, he did manage a free pass in the second inning, and he also went on to notch his first stolen base of the campaign. Doyle has hit seventh for both of Colorado's first two contests.

  • Brewers' Christian Yelich: Three-hit effort in win

Yelich went 3-for-5 with one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base in Saturday' 6-1 win over the White Sox.

Yelich got the scoring started with an RBI single in the first inning and added his first stolen base in the second. The 34-year-old has started 2026 hot, going 5-for-9 with three runs scored through two games. He slashed .264/.343/.452 with 103 RBI over 150 regular-season games in 2025 and looks poised to be a key contributor in the heart of the Brewers' order again this year.
