Gafford agreed to a three-year, $40.2 million contract extension with the Wizards on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Gafford arrived in Washington via trade last March and impressed the front office late in the regular season. Following the trade, Gafford averaged 10.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 0.7 steals in 19.0 minutes per contest while shooting 71.5 percent from the field. With Thomas Bryant (knee) still on the mend from ACL surgery, Gafford is expected to open his first full season in Washington as the Wizards' starting center.
