Hamonic is not having the kind of season the Islanders were hoping offensively, as he has just six points in 25 games.
It's fair to wonder if the trade request is wearing on him. Unfortunately for Hamonic the Islanders haven't been able to get the return they want for his services and some believe they may not be able to until after the season. Hamonic is a valuable defensemen for the Islanders, something they can't replace yet from their own system, so they would want another defender in return. Also complicating matters is that Hamonic is signed to a very team-friendly contract (under $4 million per season until 2019). Hamonic may have to wait until July to be moved.
