Mets starting pitcher Dillon Gee endured a rough outing as he was pegged with the loss Tuesday night against the Phillies.
Gee (0-2), who made his second start of the season, was jumped on early and often. He allowed four runs in the second and served up three solo home runs in the third. The right-hander was charged with seven runs on 10 hits in three innings of work in an 8-3 defeat. He also struck out three and walked two on 56 pitches, 37 strikes.
Manager Terry Collins did not appear worried about Gee's performance after the game.
"He'd miss his target by two feet. It was just one of those nights for him," Collins said of Gee.
Gee, who has a 7.71 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP through two starts, will try to get back on track Monday at Colorado. He allowed four runs in seven innings of work in his previous meeting against the Rockies in April of last season.
