Pirates pitcher Edinson Volquez won his third start in a row Saturday, in a 3-2 win over the Phillies.
Volquez was effectively wild in his seven strong innings, allowing one run despite walking four batters and allowing four hits. He struck out five batters on 106 pitches for the win, which finally got him over .500 for the first time since April.
After winning his third straight start, Volquez is now 7-6 on the season. He lowered his ERA to 3.88 in 102 innings of work heading into Thursday's start in St. Louis.
