Grade 1 calf strain sends Will Middlebrooks to DL

The Red Sox announced Sunday third baseman Will Middlebrooks was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a Grade 1 calf strain. Brock Holt was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to take his roster spot.

Manager John Farrell said he expects Middlebrooks to return from the DL when he's eligible.
