Marlins pitcher Henderson Alvarez made quick work of the Rays Tuesday, as he tossed his third complete game in a 1-0 win.

Alvarez didn't have much of a margin for error, and held the Rays' offense entirely in check, after leaving his last start with an elbow injury. He limited the Rays to just eight hits -- seven of which were just singles. He did not walk one batter while striking out five, and throwing just 88 pitches in his complete-game shutout.

Alvarez now has three complete-game shutouts this season, and has thrown 90 or fewer pitches in each. He lowered his ERA to 2.62 with the outing, and most importantly proved his elbow scare was not a concern. He carries a 3-3 record into his next outing, set for Sunday against the Cubs.
