Doctors are trying to determine whether Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has a deep bone bruise or fracture on his right foot, ESPN Boston reports. Ellsbury had an MRI Saturday but was scheduled for additional testing, including a trip to the Steadman Clinic in Colorado for a second opinion.
"I don't think we're looking at something that is just day to day here," manager John Farrell said Saturday. "But before we get into any kind of time frame, I think what's probably best for all involved here is to wait until we get more conclusive evidence and information."
Ellsbury aggravated the injury on a steal Thursday night, though the injury dates back to a foul ball on Aug. 28.
