During Thursday night's loss to the Rays (TB 5, WAS 3), Nationals slugger Bryce Harper suffered a left leg injury in the sixth inning. He uncorked a throw from right field and it appeared his leg simply gave out under him.

The trainers came out and Harper remained down for a few minutes. He eventually walked off the field under his own power but with a limp. The Nationals say Harper suffered a mild left hamstring strain and he will be reevaluated on Friday.

Washington is already without Jayson Werth (wrist), leaving Denard Span as their only healthy starting outfielder. Michael Taylor has filled in admirably this year and now Tyler Moore and Clint Robinson figure to step in while Harper is out.

Harper, 22, came into Thursday hitting .344/.478/.726 with 22 home runs in 52 RBI. The Nats are trying to catch the Mets in the NL East, and it goes without saying that losing Harper for any length of time would be devastating.
