Jayson Werth: Announces retirement
Werth (hamstring) told Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports that his career has come to an end, officially retiring from professional baseball.
Werth announced his retirement while on the 7-day disabled list with Triple-A Tacoma. He stated to Heyman that he knew his career was over when he walked off the field for the last time against Nashville on June 8. The veteran outfielder had been hitting just .206 with a .686 OPS in 36 games for the Rainiers this season. Over the course of his major-league career, Werth slashed .267/.360/.455 with 229 home runs and 799 RBI across 1,583 games and helped the Phillies win the World Series in 2008.

Mariners' Jayson Werth: Placed on shelf
Werth was moved to the 7-day disabled list Saturday, Mike Curto, the Tacoma Rainiers broadcaster reports.
Werth will head to the disabled list with an undisclosed injury. Through 36 games at Triple-A Tacoma, he's batting .206 with four homers and 19 RBI.

Mariners' Jayson Werth: Back in action at Triple-A
Werth (hamstring) is back in the Triple-A Tacoma lineup Saturday, starting at designated hitter, radio announcer Mike Curto reports.
He missed three games with a sore hamstring and is being eased back in as the DH. The 39-year-old is hitting .193/.260/.386 with four home runs in 24 games with Tacoma.

Mariners' Jayson Werth: Dealing with hamstring injury
Werth is unavailable for Wednesday's minor-league matchup due to a hamstring strain, Tacoma Rainiers' broadcaster Mike Curto reports.
Werth has a "very, very mild hamstring strain" according to Triple-A Tacoma's manager, Pat Listach. While he's unavailable for Wednesday's game, he's not expected to miss an extended period of time. Werth is batting just .193 with four home runs and 10 RBI through 24 games at Triple-A.

Mariners' Jayson Werth: Hitless in Triple-A debut
Werth went 0-for-3 with a walk in his debut for Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Werth signed a minor-league deal with the Mariners on March 27, and he'd subsequently spent multiple weeks in extended spring training while working out the kinks. The veteran outfielder is likely to remain with the Rainiers as organizational depth for the time being unless injuries strike the outfield at the big-league level.

Mariners' Jayson Werth: Joining Mariners on minor-league deal
Werth agreed to a minor-league deal with the Mariners on Tuesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Werth will remain in extended spring training to get in shape before reporting to Triple-A Tacoma. The 38-year-old is very much in the twilight of his career, having fallen below replacement level according to fWAR in two of the past three seasons. The Mariners are down one outfielder to start the year, with Ben Gamel on the disabled list with a strained oblique, but they seemed to have solved that issue by bringing in another aging outfielder in Ichiro Suzuki. Werth is unlikely to displace the franchise legend, but could be up at some point in the season if more injuries strike Seattle's outfield.
