James (rest) won't be available for Saturday's preseason contest against the Celtics, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
The Sixers will be resting several players for this contest, and James is one of the many projected starters who will be taking a seat alongside Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown. The 76ers will manage James' workload carefully with an eye toward having him ready for the regular-season opener against the Knicks on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

James recorded 10 points (1-1 FG, 8-8 FT), four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 18 minutes during Thursday's 114-108 preseason loss to Brooklyn.
James made his first appearance in a Philadelphia uniform after joining the franchise during the offseason, taking just one field-goal attempt while focusing primarily on facilitating the offense. The 41-year-old forward played exclusively in the first half and converted all eight of his free-throw attempts. James figures to remain a significant fantasy contributor in his 24th NBA season, though his scoring opportunities could decrease alongside Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown.

James (rest) will make his preseason debut Thursday against the Nets, per ESPN.com.
After sitting out the preseason opener, the future Hall of Famer will make his first appearance in a 76ers uniform Thursday. James should get some reps in the first half before handing things off to Philadelphia's younger players in the second half.
