Antonio Gates should play well Week 9
Chargers tight end Antonio Gates has caught 10 passes over the last two games for a grand total of just 59 yards and no touchdowns. Heading into Washington for Sunday's Week 9 contest, we expect a lot more than that from Gates.
Gates scored a touchdown in his last game against Washington back in 2010. He had just one catch in that game, but it went for a 12-yard score. This time around, however, the Redskins have struggled at defending the tight end. Washington is allowing the 11th-most Fantasy points per game this season to opposing tight ends.
If Gates gets into the end zone, it would be the third consecutive game in which the Redskins allowed a tight end to score.
Since entering the NFL in 2003, Gates has 85 touchdown receptions. That is most among NFL tight ends. He needs just three yards receiving Sunday to reach 500 for the season for the 11th consecutive year. He should easily surpass that and more against the Redskins Sunday and is a No. 1 Fantasy TE for the game.
