Former first-round pick David Wilson was supposed to break out for the Giants in 2013. Understatement alert: that was not the case.
Instead Wilson rushed just 44 times and dealt with an early-season neck injury that kept him off the field and out for the season after Week 5.
There wasn't a guarantee he'd be back for 2014 but Wilson made good progress recently and tweeted on Monday he was "cleared for everything."
Just got cleared ..... #cleared for everything now the story continues #pocketrocket http://t.co/thjqbeLtfy

The Giants depth chart appears better than it did last year, maybe.
Andre Brown is gone but Andre Williams is an underrated selection in the draft who could be a workhorse of sorts (even if he's not a dynamic back or whatever).
Rashad Jennings is a low-mileage back who can do a lot of things (pass pro, catch the ball, etc.). Peyton Hillis still has a pulse.
No one can be expecting much from Wilson at this point, but simply being able to participate in training camp and provide some hope for production for 2014 gives the group a little more upside than we thought it might have before.
