Despite it coming in a loss, Demaryius Thomas Super Bowl record of 13 catches is pretty impressive. It's even more impressive if Thomas, as reported, separated his shoulder.
According to Vic Lombardi of CBS Denver, Thomas suffered a separated shoulder in the first quarter.
It's possible that injury came in the first quarter when Thomas, on his first catch of the game, got absolutely obliterated by Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor.

That was on 2nd and 7 with the Seahawks leading 5-0 (Denver fumbled their first play from scrimmage that resulted in a Seattle safety and then minutes later a field goal).
It set the tone for the game on both sides. The Broncos would try crossing routes all night and the Seahawks would punish them for it.
There would be no shock involved if Thomas hurt himself on this play. Whatever the case, the star wideout suffered a tough injury to deal with. Staying healthy wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game, but it certainly didn't help the Broncos much.
