Steve Weatherford 'optimistic' about Giants, rips Eagles QB depth chart
Giants punter Steve Weatherford is pumped up for his own team but isn't really impressed with the Eagles quarterback depth chart.
Giants punter Steve Weatherford survived a serious car accident this offseason and it apparently caused him to go full YOLO during all future media interviews. Either that or he likes headlines.
Whatever the case, Weatherford appeared on CBS Sports Network's "Boomer and Carton," where he took a blowtorch on the Eagles quarterback depth chart. Up first? You guessed it.
"I'm the biggest Tim Tebow fan in the world," Weatherford said, via NJ Advance Media. "I mean, who wouldn't want their daughter to date a guy like that? I'll tell you want, I don't want him taking snaps for my team."
As for Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez, how does a car analogy sound?
"I'm gonna give you a Ferrari that maybe won't be running all the time, or I'm giving you a nice Cadillac sedan," Weatherford said. "It's not the fastest but you know what you're going to get out of it."
"Bradford can go zero to 60 in three seconds. But you don't know if he's going to start up some days."
Not too unfair an assessment, really. If Weatherford wanted to truly crush the Eagles and/or hand out bulletin board material he could've easily lessened the quality of car.
Weatherford didn't love the idea of handing Bradford a big extension either.
"Good luck with that," Weatherford said. "Chip Kelly will get himself in serious trouble if they get an extension for that guy and he gets hurt? He's done."

And of course he had plenty to say about his own team as well.
On the Giants in 2015: It’s easy to get excited about your team whether you’re a player or a fan in the offseason because everyone looks good on paper. I don’t want to say the success of our team relies on Victor Cruz, but if we’re able to get him back to 85 or 90 percent of what he was … you put him on the field with Odell Beckham, Jr., and then you’ve got Rueben Randle as well. And we got a third-down back that we got from the Patriots in Shane Vereen … obviously our nucleus is two-time Super Bowl MVP in Eli Manning.
I’m incredibly optimistic. I’m excited. This is an important year for us. Frustrating and disappointing the last couple of years not making the playoffs. Everyone feels like we’re on the hot seat. Tom Coughlin incredibly focused, as he is every year. But this is an important year for us as a franchise to get back in the mix.
On Odell Beckham Jr. being miffed at teammates: He turned 21 years old during the season. When I was 21 years old if you would give me the blessings — not that he hasn’t worked for them — I would’ve fallen apart. I’m incredibly impressed with his maturity, his ability to handle all that, manage all that and still produced. There’s definitely no questions surrounding him. I think the media’s kind of reading into the comments. It’s football. We’re going to give everybody a hard time. I don’t care whether you’re the greatest wide receiver of all time or a practice squad guy. Everyone’s going to get it.
