  • Giants' Raheem Layne: Active at OTAs

Layne (knee) has been participating in the Giants' OTAs, John Schmeelk of the team's official site reports.

Layne hurt his knee in Week 16 of last season and finished the campaign on IR. However, Schmeelk reports that the 25-year-old safety "made a couple good plays" during practice Friday, so it appears Layne is back to full health. He'll have a chance to compete for a depth role in the defensive backfield during training camp.

  • Giants' Raheem Layne: Lands on IR due to knee injury

The Giants placed Layne (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Layne suffered a knee injury during the Giants' Week 16 loss to the Falcons. The injury prevented him from practicing all week, and it is severe enough for him to be placed on IR, which will end his 2024 campaign. Layne played for the Giants in Week 15 and 16 and accumulated three solo tackles over that span.

  • Giants' Raheem Layne: Ruled out for Week 17

Layne (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Colts, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

The 25-year-old from Indiana played 27 total snaps (22 defensive and five on special teams) and recorded three total tackles in the Giants' Week 16 loss to the Falcons. However, it appears he sustained a knee injury in the process, as he was unable to practice throughout the week and is now in line to miss Sunday's contest. Anthony Johnson is likely to serve as the Giants' top reserve safety in Layne's stead in Week 17.

  • Chargers' Raheem Layne: In line for start

Layne is in line for a starting opportunity in Sunday's matchup with the Raiders, Eric Smith of the team's official website reports.
