Outside of the Jets' lone goal from Kyle Connor midway through the second period, Luukkonen excelled in goal to pick up his third win in four tries. With his effort Monday, the 26-year-old netminder is up to a 4-3-1 record with a 2.51 GAA and an .899 save percentage through eight games this season. He has room to improve his save percentage, but performances like Monday's proved that he can keep the Sabres competitive defensively. With Buffalo currently just three points out of a playoff spot in the Atlantic Division, the Sabres should vie for enough wins this season to keep Luukkonen as a solid streaming option in most fantasy formats. His next chance to take the ice is Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Luukkonen was coming off wins in his previous two outings against the Blackhawks and Hurricanes, a stretch in which he made 49 saves on 53 shots. Given that this was the first time Luukkonen has made three starts in a row this season, it wouldn't be surprising if he gets a day off sooner rather than later. The Sabres' next game is scheduled for Friday at home against the Devils.

Luukkonen has won back-to-back games for the first time this season, stopping 49 of 53 shots (.925 save percentage) in victories over Chicago and Carolina on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Finnish goaltender is 3-2-1 with a 2.67 GAA and an .897 save percentage across six appearances this season. After starting the year on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury, Luukkonen seems to be closing in on being the team's clear-cut No. 1 option, as Colten Ellis and Alex Lyon have received their share of starts in 2025-26.

Sunday marked the first time this season Luukkonen allowed one goal or fewer. Luukkonen has 20-plus wins in each of the past two seasons and could surpass that threshold again if he can hold onto the starting role now that he's healthy. After a few days of rest, Luukkonen's next chance to take the ice will be Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

Luukkonen allowed three goals on 30 shots in relief of Alex Lyon in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Avalanche.
A report earlier in the day had Luukkonen as the starter, but fantasy managers who didn't get him out of their lineups still got an appearance from the Finnish netminder. Lyon lasted just 6:10 into the game before he was pulled for performance reasons, and Luukkonen did a fair job in relief. However, Luukkonen did end up with the loss, falling to 1-2-1 on the year while allowing a total of 12 goals on 103 shots. The Sabres' crease is up for grabs with Luukkonen, Lyon and Colten Ellis all in contention for starts, though wins may remains rare for this struggling team.
