  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Excellent against Dallas

Luukkonen stopped 28 of 29 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Stars.

Luukkonen was beaten once in the first period, but that would be all the damage he'd allow as the Sabres cruised to an easy win. The 26-year-old didn't play in five straight games between Dec. 9 and Dec. 20 due to his struggles, but he's turned things around of late and has won his last three starts. Over that stretch, he owns a 1.00 GAA and an impressive, yet unsustainable, .962 save percentage.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Sharp in Saturday's win

Luukkonen made 21 saves in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Bruins.

David Pastrnak snapped a shot past Luukkonen midway through the first period, but the 26-year-old netminder shut the door the rest of the way as the Sabres' offense got rolling. Luukkonen has allowed three goals or fewer in 10 of 11 outings since the beginning of November, posting a 2.46 GAA and .903 save percentage over that stretch, but he remains firmly behind the red-hot Alex Lyon in the Buffalo crease.

Luukkonen is expected to start at home against Boston on Saturday, per Paul Hamilton of WGR 550.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Takes down Devils

Luukkonen stopped 26 of 27 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Devils.

Even with reinforcements, the Devils weren't able to stop the suddenly hot Sabres. Luukkonen did his part after being on the bench for five straight games since he was pulled from his Dec. 8 loss versus the Flames. The 26-year-old is up to 5-5-1 with a 2.73 GAA and an .892 save percentage over 11 appearances this season. Alex Lyon has played too well to relinquish the crease, but Luukkonen is at least back to applying some pressure after the latter's struggles earlier in the month. The Sabres' next game is Tuesday versus the Senators.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Gets hook in Calgary

Luukkonen gave up five goals on 22 shots before being replaced by Alex Lyon to begin the third period of Monday's 7-4 loss to the Flames.

Luukkonen didn't have much chance on any of the pucks that got past him, two of which came on Calgary power plays, but his night ended early nonetheless. The 26-year-old netminder hadn't allowed more than three goals in an outing since Oct. 25, with Monday's performance snapping a stretch of eight starts in which he'd gone 4-4-0 despite a respectable 2.40 GAA and a .904 save percentage. The Sabres continue to carry three goalies and get all three of them work, but Luukkonen may be nosing ahead in the battle for playing time despite this result.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: First goalie off Monday

Luukkonen was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, per NHL.com, indicating that he'll draw the road start against Calgary.

Luukkonen is coming off a road loss in Winnipeg on Friday, but he'll have a more favorable matchup Monday, as the Flames rank last in the NHL with 2.33 goals per game this season. Across his last five starts, Luukkonen has gone 3-2-0 with a 2.22 GAA and .906 save percentage.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Beaten three times Friday

Luukkonen stopped 19 of 22 shots in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Jets.

Luukkonen was beaten once in the first period and twice in the second. The Jets added a fourth goal when the 26-year-old was on the bench, and the Sabres had an extra attacker. Luukkonen remains inconsistent from a wins perspective, as he's gone 3-3-0 over his last six starts with a 2.39 GAA and a .905 save percentage.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Between pipes against Jets

Luukkonen will tend the twine on the road versus Winnipeg on Friday, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.

Luukkonen has seen his role reduced this season, playing in just eight of the Sabres' last 19 outings. In those appearances, the Finnish backstop has put up decent numbers, going 4-3-1 with a 2.51 GAA. While the Sabres continue to carry three netminders, at some point, Luukkonen will have to get more starts if he continues to perform at his current level.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Strong effort in win

Luukkonen stopped 23 of 24 shots in Monday's 5-1 win over the Jets.

Outside of the Jets' lone goal from Kyle Connor midway through the second period, Luukkonen excelled in goal to pick up his third win in four tries. With his effort Monday, the 26-year-old netminder is up to a 4-3-1 record with a 2.51 GAA and an .899 save percentage through eight games this season. He has room to improve his save percentage, but performances like Monday's proved that he can keep the Sabres competitive defensively. With Buffalo currently just three points out of a playoff spot in the Atlantic Division, the Sabres should vie for enough wins this season to keep Luukkonen as a solid streaming option in most fantasy formats. His next chance to take the ice is Wednesday in Philadelphia.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Slated to start

Luukkonen is expected to patrol the home crease against Winnipeg on Monday, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.

Luukkonen allowed three goals on 18 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh, with the fourth goal being an empty-netter. He has a 3-3-1 record with a 2.73 GAA and an .891 save percentage across seven appearances this season. Winnipeg ranks 10th in the league with 3.13 goals per game this campaign.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Gives up three goals Wednesday

Luukkonen stopped 15 of 18 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Penguins. The fourth goal was an empty-netter with 58 seconds left in the game.

Luukkonen was coming off wins in his previous two outings against the Blackhawks and Hurricanes, a stretch in which he made 49 saves on 53 shots. Given that this was the first time Luukkonen has made three starts in a row this season, it wouldn't be surprising if he gets a day off sooner rather than later. The Sabres' next game is scheduled for Friday at home against the Devils.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Expected to start Wednesday

Luukkonen is slated to start Wednesday in Pittsburgh, per Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550.

Luukkonen has won back-to-back games for the first time this season, stopping 49 of 53 shots (.925 save percentage) in victories over Chicago and Carolina on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Finnish goaltender is 3-2-1 with a 2.67 GAA and an .897 save percentage across six appearances this season. After starting the year on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury, Luukkonen seems to be closing in on being the team's clear-cut No. 1 option, as Colten Ellis and Alex Lyon have received their share of starts in 2025-26.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Shines in goal Sunday

Luukkonen made 29 saves on 30 attempts on goal in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Hurricanes.

Despite the Hurricanes attempting 10 more shots on net than the Sabres, Luukkonen allowed just one power-play goal Sunday. The strong outing was his third win of the season, boosting his season totals to a 3-2-1 record, a 2.68 GAA and an .897 save percentage through six games. Sunday marked the first time this season Luukkonen allowed one goal or fewer. Luukkonen has 20-plus wins in each of the past two seasons and could surpass that threshold again if he can hold onto the starting role now that he's healthy. After a few days of rest, Luukkonen's next chance to take the ice will be Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Starting once again

Luukkonen will get the start for Sunday's game against the Hurricanes, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.

Luukkonen is getting back-to-back starts for the first time this season and will make only his sixth start overall. The 26-year-old has a 2-2-1 record, 3.01 GAA and .881 save percentage in his five appearances. The Hurricanes have scored at least three goals in five straight games and boast the second-best offense in the NHL at 3.62 goals per game, so Luukkonen will have his work cut out for him Sunday.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Earns win over Chicago

Luukkonen stopped 20 of 23 shots in Friday's 9-3 win over the Blackhawks.

Luukkonen did a decent job between the posts and had plenty of offensive support to earn the victory. He has made just four starts in November, going 2-2-0 with a 2.78 GAA and an .893 save percentage, as he seems to have fallen out of favor lately. His recent performances won't help him regain the starting role, but getting some victories should help him remain an option in a crowded Buffalo crease.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Guarding goal Friday

Luukkonen will guard the home goal versus the Blackhawks on Friday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.

This will be Luukkonen's first action in four games and his first start since Nov. 6 versus the Blues. He's fallen out of favor a bit in a crowded crease, but the Sabres' goaltending battle hasn't really had a standout participant yet. Luukkonen has posted an .883 save percentage over four contests and may be challenged heavily by the Blackhawks' offense.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Gets hefty workload in relief

Luukkonen allowed three goals on 30 shots in relief of Alex Lyon in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Avalanche.

A report earlier in the day had Luukkonen as the starter, but fantasy managers who didn't get him out of their lineups still got an appearance from the Finnish netminder. Lyon lasted just 6:10 into the game before he was pulled for performance reasons, and Luukkonen did a fair job in relief. However, Luukkonen did end up with the loss, falling to 1-2-1 on the year while allowing a total of 12 goals on 103 shots. The Sabres' crease is up for grabs with Luukkonen, Lyon and Colten Ellis all in contention for starts, though wins may remains rare for this struggling team.
