Soderlund was placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract Friday.
Soderlund has not appeared in an NHL contest since being traded to Edmonton in July of 2021. The 23-year-old was held without a point over seven AHL appearances this season.

Oilers' Tim Soderlund: Dealt to Oilers
Soderlund was traded from Chicago with Duncan Keith to Edmonton on Monday in exchange for Caleb Jones and a 2022 third-round draft pick, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports.
Soderlund spent some time on the Blachawks' taxi squad last season but has yet to make his NHL debut. A fourth-round pick in 2017, the 23-year-old forward recorded five assists in 23 games with AHL Rockford during the 2020-21 campaign. He'll likely start next season in the minors again.

Soderlund was very briefly on the taxi squad but will head right back to the minors. He's tallied three assists in eight games with AHL Rockford this season.

Soderlund was promoted to the taxi squad Sunday, CapFriendly reports.
Soderlund has three assists in eight AHL games this season and still hasn't made his NHL debut. The 5-foot-9 forward will probably be reassigned to AHL Rockford before he gets a chance with the big club.

Blackhawks' Tim Soderlund: Headed to AHL Rockford
Chicago assigned Soderlund to AHL Rockford on Monday.
Soderlund was with Almtuna IS of Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan League prior to training camp, but he'll head to the AHL rather than overseas with the NHL season set to get underway in just a few days. The 2017 fourth-round pick picked up three points in 29 AHL appearances and six points in seven ECHL appearances last season.
