  • Jack Plummer: Cut by Carolina

The Panthers waived Plummer on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Plummer was trying to push for a job behind Bryce Young and Andy Dalton (elbow) in Carolina. The second-year QB played 92 offensive snaps under center this preseason and completed 23 of 38 pass attempts for 210 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Plummer could be a candidate for the practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Panthers' Jack Plummer: Inked to active roster

The Panthers signed Plummer to the active roster Saturday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.

Plummer was elevated to the Panthers' active roster in Week 8 for a one-game stint and has been with the practice squad since. The No. 1 overall pick of 2023, Bryce Young, is expected to be under center and backed up by veteran Andy Dalton. Thus, Plummer will serve as the No. 3 option under center.

  • Jack Plummer: Returns to practice squad

Plummer reverted to the Panthers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Plummer was active for the team's 28-14 loss to the Broncos in Week 8, failing to see any action while serving as the backup quarterback to Bryce Young. With Andy Dalton (thumb) banged up, it's possible that Plummer is elevated again for Sunday's matchup with the Saints.

  • Panthers' Jack Plummer: Elevated for Week 8

The Panthers elevated Plummer from the practice squad Saturday in advance of Sunday's matchup against the Broncos, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.

Plummer appears set to work as the backup to Bryce Young versus Denver on Sunday, with Andy Dalton (thumb) officially listed as doubtful for Week 8. Plummer, an undrafted rookie out of Louisville, appeared in all three of Carolina's preseason contests, throwing for 406 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

  • Jack Plummer: Brought back by Carolina

The Panthers signed Plummer to their practice squad Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Plummer appeared in all three of Carolina's preseason contests this year, throwing for 406 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Now that the Louisville product has returned to the Panthers, he could very well serve as the team's emergency third quarterback in his rookie season.

  • Jack Plummer: Let go by Carolina

The Panthers waived Plummer on Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

The undrafted rookie out of Louisville had a strong preseason finale against the Bills, going 21 of 29 passing for 278 yards (9.6 YPA) and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to win a job behind Bryce Young and Andy Dalton. Carolina may try to sneak Plummer through waivers and onto the practice squad.

  • Panthers' Jack Plummer: Throws for 86 yards Thursday

Plummer completed 11 of 21 pass attempts for 86 yards and rushed twice for four yards during Thursday's 17-3 preseason loss to the Patriots.

With Bryce Young and Andy Dalton sitting out Thursday, Plummer was the Panthers' top quarterback. It was a rough game for Carolina's entire offense, and Plummer wasn't helped by his supporting cast, as he was sacked five times and dealt with drop issues from both Jonathan Mingo and Terrace Marshall. Plummer definitely left more to be desired after his performance Thursday, but he'll likely have the opportunity to continue competing for Carolina's No. 3 quarterback spot as the preseason progresses.

  • Panthers' Jack Plummer: Set for heavy work vs. New England

Head coach Dave Canales said Tuesday that Plummer will get a lot of the work in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.

With Bryce Young ruled out for Thursday's contest and Andy Dalton dealing with a quadriceps injury, Plummer is set to start while recent signing Jake Luton serves as the backup. Plummer signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in April, and a strong outing Thursday could give the Louisville product a shot at the backup quarterback job behind Young.
