Blue Jays' Jacob Barnes: Designated for assignment

Barnes was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Wednesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Barnes spent the final weekend of the regular season with the major-league club but will lose his spot on the 40-man roster early in the offseason. The right-hander made 29 relief appearances with the Mets and Blue Jays in 2021 and posted a 6.28 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 28.2 innings.
