Joe Mauer gets some work in the cage

Twins catcher Joe Mauer was able to hit in the cage prior to Thursday's game against the White Sox, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Mauer's next step in his recovery from a strained oblique would live batting practice. The Twins have not established a date for that, at this moment.

Mauer has been sidelined since July 1 with the injury. He batted .271/.342/.353 with two home runs and 28 RBI in 303 at-bats before the injury.
