The Minnesota Vikings' Norseman logo has gone under the knife and been given a slight facelift. The team announced on Thursday that they have made some subtle changes to the Norseman logo, which will give it a "more natural and defined look."

The Norseman has been the team's logo since the Vikings' inception in 1961.

To the untrained eye or non-Vikings fan, the changes may be difficult to spot, so we'll go through them so you can explain the changes to anyone you see wearing the new Norseman logo.

  • Horn shape: The horns are a slightly different shape. The shading on the horns has also changed.

  • Horn base: The horn base on the logo now matches the horn base on the players' helmets.

  • Face detail: Mustache aficionados may notice that thicker lines have been added to the mustache. Thicker lines have also been added to the face.

  • Vikings gold: The gold on the Norseman's helmet is brighter and "less brassy."

  • The braid: The Norseman has trendier looking hair. He'll be keeping the braid, but it will be shortened.

For fans not completely comfortable with the new Norseman, the team said that the "evolution will not happen overnight" and that fans can "expect to see both versions of the logo during the transition period."

Logo changes are slowly becoming a trend this offseason, the Vikings logo change comes just over a week after the Jaguars announced they were changing their logo.
