LOOK: Blackhawks' Marian Hossa eats pierogi from Stanley Cup
Marian Hossa ate a delicious local treat from the Stanley Cup in his native Slovakia.
It’s becoming a seemingly annual event that the Stanley Cup makes its way to Trencin, Slovakia. Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa brought hockey’s top prize back to his hometown for the third time since 2010. Lord Stanley also was in town in 2011 with Zdeno Chara and in 2014 with Marian Gaborik.
One of the regular personal traditions of Hossa’s day with the cup, however, involves the local delicacy: pierogi. And he looks pretty happy about it.

Those delicious dumpling-like morsels, which in Slovakian tradition are filled with cheese, are not the typical fare for elite athletes. But when you win the Stanley Cup, and especially when you win it three times, you definitely earned a cheat day.
Hossa has dined on pierogis each of the previous two times he won the Stanley Cup.
The Blackhawks star also met with some local youth hockey players while in town.
