  • Golden Knights' Nicolas Hague: Looking strong in first AHL season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/6/18) Hague scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, to help lead AHL Chicago to a 4-3 victory over Iowa on Wednesday.

While playing for OHL Mississauga last season, Hague became the first defenseman to score 30 goals in that league in nearly a decade, and he has continued his strong play in his first professional campaign. Hague now has five goals and 12 points in 23 games for the Wolves, and he's formed a nice one-two combination with fellow rookie and 2017 first-rounder Erik Brannstrom. There's an outside chance that Hague could make his NHL debut at some point later this season.

Golden Knights' Nicolas Hague: Reaches 30-goal plateau Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/1/18) With his goal for OHL Mississauga on Wednesday, Hague became the first OHL defenseman since 1999-2000 to score 30 goals in a single season.

Keep in mind that this is a player that was drafted 34th overall by Vegas last June due to his size (6-foot-5, 215 pounds) and steadiness as opposed to his offensive production. It took Hague 59 games this season to reach the 30-goal mark. In comparison, he tallied 32 goals in 131 games over his previous two campaigns. It remains to be seen how much Hague will produce offensively as a pro, but it's clear the Golden Knights have another quality prospect on their hands. It's not out of the question that Hague could be playing in the NHL this coming fall.

Golden Knights' Nicolas Hague: Inks entry-level deal

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/29/17) Hague signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Golden Knights on Friday, Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

The 6-foot-6 defenseman, who was selected by Vegas in the second round of this year's draft, posted impressive numbers in the OHL last season, racking up 46 points (18 goals, 28 assists) in 65 games with the Mississauga Steelheads. Hague is only 18 years old, so he'll likely remain with his junior club for the entirety of the 2017-18 campaign, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him make the jump to the AHL next season.
