Mariners' Billy Hamilton: Won't make Opening Day roster

The Mariners reassigned Hamilton to minor-league camp Tuesday.

Hamilton and Steven Souza were among the four players cut from big-league camp Tuesday, with both outfielders likely seeing their chances of making Seattle's Opening Day roster come to an end when the Mariners announced Monday that top prospect Julio Rodriguez would begin the season in the majors. The 31-year-old Hamilton appears set to open the season at Triple-A Tacoma, unless Seattle releases him to pursue opportunities with another organization.
