Angels veteran slugger Albert Pujols got a bit defensive about his production with runners on base after failing in two such situations Friday night in a shutout loss to Tampa Bay.
Pujols grounded out with the bases loaded and two out in the fifth and flied out with two runners on in the seventh.
"I'm a friggin' lifetime over-.350 hitter with men on base," he told the Orange County Register. "Look at my numbers with bases loaded. Those numbers are sick."
Pujols exaggerated just a bit. His career average with men on base is .325. It's .349 with the bases loaded. But the former is .154 and latter is .000 (in six at-bats) this season.
