It may go against all logic -- especially with Don Mattingly recently benching him and Yasiel Puig possibly threatening his playing time -- but Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier is a wonderful buy-low candidate right now, just because his value has fallen so hard and so fast.

Recent trades in CBS leagues for Ethier include deals for Cameron Maybin, Daniel Murphy, Juan Pierre, and as a throw-in as part of several low-profile deals. Ethier's been disappointing lately, and he has trouble hitting lefties, but he's worth more than an injured outfielder for the Padres.

Ethier still has a .288 career average and has hit 20 or more home runs in four of his last five seasons. While his .282 BABIP is relatively high for a slumping player, it's well below his career average of .322. And the second-half downturn from 2012 wasn't that terrible: Ethier hit .278 with 10 home runs in 281 at-bats.

If you expect 20 home runs and a .270 average from Ethier on the season, and can get that for Cameron Maybin, then Ethier is a wonderful buy-low candidate who has the best part of his season ahead of him. The key here is to get him for pennies on the dollar, and keep expectations for the rest of 2013 in check.
