Matt Schaub comes full circle, signs with Falcons to back up another Matt
Matt Schaub is returning to the city where he started his career.
Matt Schaub's NFL career has officially come full circle. The veteran quarterback agreed to terms on a deal with the Falcons on Wednesday, a move that will send Schaub back to the city where he started his career.
Back in 2004, the Falcons selected Schaub with a third-round pick in the NFL Draft. Schaub then spent three years backing up Michael Vick before he was traded to the Texans following the 2006 season.
During his seven-year career in Houston, Schaub went to the playoffs twice and put together a 46-42 overall record with the Texans. After the 2013 season, the Texans shipped Schaub off to Oakland, where he spent the 2014 season.
Schaub also spent one season in Baltimore.
The return to Atlanta makes sense for Schaub because he'll be reunited with Kyle Shanahan. The Falcons offensive coordinator served in the same role with the Texans in 2008 and 2009 and is familiar with what Schaub can do.

Schaub will likely serve as the Falcons No. 2 quarterback behind Matt Ryan.
The addition of Schaub also means that the Falcons now have the largest collection of NFL quarterbacks named Matt.
"Hi, is your name Matt? OK, Atlanta would like to sign you to play QB." Falcons now have Matt Ryan, Simms & Schaub https://t.co/yubcctfXzp
